Jonchée 1810 is located in one of the most historic villages of Mauritius, Vieux Grand Port, which shaped what the island became today. Through historic sites and museums, guests will have the chance to learn more about the early days of men on the island.
The villa is only 11 minutes by car from the Authentic town of Mahébourg and its famous market, where you find absolutely everything … from fresh fish, meat and chicken, to all sorts of tropical fruits and vegetable, souvenirs and also art craft … not to forget all the Indian and Chinese spices.

Surroundings
You are at the “First touch Landing” of the Dutch in Mauritius, a historical spot! Likewise, the Battle of Grand Port between the French Navy and the British Royal Navy. The battle was fought during 20–27 August 1810 over possession of the harbour of Grand Port on Isle de France (now Mauritius)
There are only a few other villas as neighbours, therefore it is quiet and peaceful. In addition, you are in front of the Sea with great views on the lagoon. In case you love trekking, this is a good point to start, for example to the Lion Mountain. The Valley de Ferney is also just behind and great to explore. Moreover, don’t miss the visit of the Frederick Hendrick Museum at just 15 minute’s walk.
The Yacht Club of Pointe d’Esny, its beautiful white beach and Kite spot can easily be reached in short time by car.
Transport
Although taxis are available, we recommend hiring a car to visit this beautiful coast up to the north, or simply cross the Island to the main city of Port Louis. Hence, you can hire a Catamaran to sail up to the Ile Aux cerfs ..
